Blaire Margaret

Blair Margaret Oviatt joined our family on July 13, 2016, 3 days ahead of her due date. I had been having contractions on and off all day. Around 6pm, they started to get pretty close together. We called Lee’s sister-in-law to se eif she could drive our niece over to stay with the other kids while we went to the hospital. By the time they got to the house, all contractions had stopped. We decided to have Talia stay the night just in case, and around 2am I woke up with intensely painful contractions. I woke Lee up and told him we needed to go.  We got to the hospital around 2:30. After checking in, they sent us up to labour and delivery, where I promptly asked for an epidural. After checking me and discovering I was already at 7cm, the very nice nurse notified me that an epidural wouldn’t be happening, I’d be sitting on the baby’s head by the time they got the IV in. Boo. An hour later, Blaire was born healthy and happy at 3:29am.

She has been a fabulous baby, sleeping 6 hour stints at night. The kids love her. Jack and Harper are willing to help and hold her, and Harper even learned to change diapers. Wren loves her a little too much, and we have to keep a pretty close eye on her. When Blaire was 4 days old, I had laid her down to nap in her crib. I heard the door to her room open from downstairs and by the time I got up there, Wren was standing in Blaire’s crib, holding that tiny 4 day old baby. My heart stopped. Wren was so proud of herself for holding “baby bear”.

Blaire has been a dream baby so far. She sleeps for 6 hour stretches at night, and nurses the best out of any of my babies.
