  • Jack goes to grade 1

  • Well, we've reached a milestone at our house. Jack is in grade 1. Full day school, 5 days a week. He was pretty excited his first day, though a little anxious. He hid it well with his cool guy exterior, and breezed into class like it was no big deal.
Soccer Mom
  • Soccer Mom

  • After the slow (re:boring) debacle of T-ball last year, we thought it would be fun to let Jack try soccer this year. If nothing else, we figured it would put his excess energy to good use. ^^We were lucky this year, and had beautiful weather for every game!^^ ^^She was so excited to ge [...]
  • YMCA

  • So what do you do in Alberta when it's been -20 for over a week, and you're kids are driving you crazy? You head to mom&tot at the local YMCA and let them burn of some steam by running wild with 30 other kids. In defence of Harper's fashion sense: she refuses to wear a coat, but INSISTED she n [...]
  • Jack Turns 5

  • So my baby turned 5 on Friday. How crazy is that? I think there's always something special about each child, and what they represents for you as a parent. Jack is our first. He's the one that made us parents. He's the one that gets to be the subject of all our parenthood method testing. He has to [...]
  • Happy Canada Day!

  • I am so grateful for this country I live in. The freedoms and opportunities I enjoy.  Most of us started out the day wearing red and white. Jack rode his bike through the biggest mud puddle he could find, so had to change. I tried to squeeze into pants I don't really fit in yet, and had to change, [...]
  • and Wren makes 3.

  • The new addition to the sibling mix has gone better than I thought it would. Other than Harper regressing (again) in the potty training department, the kids for the most part love her. Especially when she's awake. Jack gets all excited and will yell "Harper, the baby's awake!" and they'll both come [...]
  • Jack Turns 4

  • I can't believe this kid is 4 already. We kept it low key this year, just having the Grandparents in for cake. Jack at 4 years old is curious. He is always asking questions. He can be pretty mean to his sister. He can also be incredibly  sweet to her, reading her books cuddled in the rocking chair i [...]
  • Jack Turns 3

  • Yesterday, Jack turned 3! This is the first year he's actually been able to anticipate the event and show some excitement, which made it a lot more fun for me. We had all of his (local) cousins over for a cake and ice cream and it was chaos. Jack loved it. I ended up getting the cake from Kathryn, a [...]
  • Sleep Eating

  • Jack does not sleep anywhere except in a bed in a room by himself. We're lucky if we can even get him to sleep in the car for more than 30 minutes. We went out to eat with some friends this weekend and had ordered Jack some naan bread and tzatziki. While the rest of us were waiting for our food, we [...]
  • Bowling

  • On Friday night, once everyone arrived in Edmonton, we had arranged to meet at a bowling alley. It was 5 pin, which was great for the kids. For little kids who can't push the ball all the way to the end of the lane, they have ramps that they can slide the ball down. This is how it's supposed to [...]
